Angels Orange Roll to .500 Over the Weekend

The Angels Orange team went 2-2 in the Southwest Wood Bat National Championships this past weekend in Mesa. In the first game Adrian Gamez (Chandler – 2017) pitched a complete game shutout against AZ Pro Gray allowing just 2 hits, walked 1 and struck out 10. Roy Arrieta (McClintock – 2018) had 2 RBI and Max Villemez (Arcadia – 2017) an Alec Klemens (Arcadia – 2018)each scored twice.

In game 2, Jackson Zuber (Chandler – 2017), Max Peoples (Arcadia – 2017), Jesus Gramillo and William Wallace (McClintock – 2017) each had 2 hits in a 8-3 loss to BNL 15U Blue. The Angels were haunted by 6 unearned runs in the first 3 innings.
In game 3 the Angels got a stellar relief performance from Cameron McAlpine who relieved the starter in the 1st inning. McAlpine allowed 3 hits in 6 1/3 innings and struck out 5 to pick up the victory.  Alec Klemens had 2 hits and Jackson Zuber scored twice on two walks.
In game 4 the Angels played the LC Sultans who had averaged 20 runs per game. The Angels played well, but a 4 run 4th by the Sultans solidified their victory. The Angels were led by Dima Tonkoshurov with 2 hits. The Angels stranded 7 baserunners in the 5-0 loss.
