  • Do you need more exposure and attention from coaches?

  • Have you spent thousands of dollars on recruiting services, showcase camps, and online profiles?

  • Did you get a letter from a college coach but don’t know what to do about it?

  • Are you wondering why college coaches don’t come to see you play??

As you read this section of our website you are going to take away tools that you can use right now to get attention from college coaches.  The Angels Amateur Baseball Academy's primary goal is to get players to the next level.  For some, that's professional baseball, but for most its college baseball.

If you have been around baseball in Arizona and the southwest for the past decade, you know that the Angels Amateur Baseball Academy places the most players at the four year college level out of all other academy's or teams in the southwest.  Is this because the Angels have better players?  Is it because their players are smarter?  Of course not, it is simple, the Angels Amateur Baseball Academy has a "secret weapon" named Jeff Fallon.  Fallon helps all academy members develop a realistic plan, guides them through the process and when the time is right gets them in front of the right college coaches.  Fallon's College Planning Center has been in business since 1996 and has worked with more than 1,000 aspiring student-athletes, placing more than 96% of them in college.  Obviously Fallon does not want his company to be a "secret" and is always asked the question if it's ok to work with him if the student is not playing with the Angels Amateur Baseball Academy ... and the answer is yes!  Fallon started his company with the goal of helping as many student-athletes, their families, high school and college coaches as possible.  Offering sound information, guidance and is completely dedicated himself to the collegiate recruiting process.

So feel free to check back here often, the information we provide with be accurate, honest and to the point.  If you ever have any questions regarding the recruiting process, college admissions or college planning please contact Jeff Fallon at jfallon@angelsproscout.net.

This service is available to Angels and non Angels, we are
able to work with everyone and you will certainly have a much better chance of playing this great game of baseball in college.

SHOWCASES, CAMPS AND RECRUITING SERVICES

This might be the most important piece of information in the recruiting game you will ever read

Here's Why:

Many students and their families go through the process blind, but members of the Fallon Sports College Planning Nation understand:

  • Why recruiting services and showcase camps want to keep you in the dark

  • What happens to all those profiles that are put online or mailed out...you’ll be shocked

  • The Dirty Little Secret: Do showcase camps pay coaches to attend?...See the story below

  • What really goes on behind the scenes at showcase camps...you’ll never believe it

  • How you can turn the tables in your favor and get coaches to call you. it’s very easy to do

Like other parents and baseball players, you’re probably very confused about the recruiting process. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. In fact, most recruiting companies and showcase camps bank on the fact that you’re confused. There are services that want to keep you completely in the dark about the process. That’s how they make money.

Most of these companies simply want you to think that you must go through them if you have any chance of getting a scholarship. But, that’s just not true.

With the Fallon Sports College Planning Nation you are going to learn that there is a much more effective way.

Who are we and why should you listen to us?

Most people know our college recruiting coaches from coaching one of our Angels teams.  Whether you play for the Angels or not, you probably have run across one of us.  The leadership behind the Angels recruiting program is Jeff Fallon, who was a collegiate head coach and recruiting coordinator and has been working as an associate baseball scout for the past 12 years in Arizona. Every day, he evaluates baseball players and communicates with college coaches.  He has worked along side college coaches at showcase camps, clinics, and makes it his living to understand exactly what each college is looking for in a student-athlete.  In addition, he is an expert panelist at collegeview.com and has been actively involved in the college admissions and recruiting process for the past three decades.

The recruiting industry is loaded with people who will rob you blind. The bad part is that there are a lot of camps and services that are very good...but, it’s so hard to tell the difference.

Do you know what happens to showcase camps
that just take anyone?

The scouts and recruiters catch on to this and stop coming. That’s right. They stop coming. They don’t want to waste their time. They see the difference between camps that are “money makers” and the camps that actually provide a valuable service. But, how are you to know which is which?

Fallon has been to showcase camps with 20 players where there was more talent than camps that had 200 players. Yes, 200 players in one camp. And the worst part is that every one of those players paid over $400 to go there. Good for the camp director... bad for the athletes and the coaches trying to see them.

Oh, and there were only about 20 recruiters at this camp. That gives you about a 10 to 1 shot of being noticed. And that doesn’t even mean you will be noticed by the right school either. The brochure and the sign in roster for these camps will boast that over 80 coaches attended. Yeah, right! Wait until you find out what happens behind the scenes.

It’s easy to feel frustrated. I don’t blame you. It’s not your fault. The industry is just giving you bad advice.

Here is an example of what can happen at many Showcase Camps ... they can be a nightmare.

YOU ARE THE COLLEGE COACH:   You are told by the director that you would be evaluating a group of players... 16 to be exact. You picture yourself with a clipboard and a stopwatch doing what you always figured college coaches would do at a showcase camp. But, that doesn’t happen. He sticks you with all 16 players by yourself. You have to hit them balls, catch the balls and do the evaluation all at the same time.

Guess what happens? About 10 minutes into it you hear the horn go off which meant that you have 10 minutes to finish. You literally have no time to do the job correctly.

And ... it gets worse!

When you tell the director of the camp your situation he looks at the evaluation sheets

and says:

“Just fill in anything”

Can you imagine people just preying on the dreams of these players and then just ripping them off?

What we could tell you about some other camps would blow your mind.

These online recruiting services are even worse. I have talked to parents who have paid $1500 or more to some of these services to put their information online. It stays there for 6-12 months. Guess what they typically get back? Nothing. That’s right. Zero, Zip, Zilch, Nada. Not even one contact from a coach, in most cases.

We will show you how to do your own profile for $25 dollars and where you can get the email address, mailing address, and phone numbers of every coach in the country for just $70. That would be a savings of $1400. Is that fair?

Let me tell you some of the dirty tactics of these recruiting services....

Did you know that when you submit a video and a profile to those services that they send a bulk email to all the coaches? Not an individual email just for you like they make it seem.

Do you know what percentage of these emails get through to an actual decision maker??? Less than 50% even get delivered. Of that 50%, less than half of those get opened...of that half, I would bet that 10% could actually do something with the info … In other words it ends up in some assistant coaches inbox and he has no power to make decisions...of that 10% do you know how many actually watch those videos??? Not many.

Here’s a fact...

Did you know that when these services send videos and profiles to coaches they all go in one giant envelope? Yup. So, your profile and video might be in there with hundreds of other players.

Do you know what I did when I got those packages in the mail? Tossed them right in the garbage. Why? Because, like I said before these places take anybody in their camps and services. So, I would have to sift through hundreds of kids to find maybe one player who would fit what I was looking for. It would take days to go through all of that stuff. These services know that, but until now...they are banking on the fact you didn’t know that.

Now, some college and universities with bigger staffs will give all of that stuff to their volunteer assistant. It might be their job to evaluate talent from those services, but they can not make a decision.  This volunteer now has to “sell” among the hundreds of other fliers and videos to the decision maker, which typically will never happen.  This gives the volunteer “practice” in the recruiting process and also fills the college’s camp database with names, addresses and emails.

The industry stinks and it’s robbing people like you blind. They take advantage of the parent and athlete who feels like they are missing out if they don’t take every opportunity available

The Dirtiest Secret About Showcase Camps
...this will really make you mad!

Absolute fact:  When you see a camp list all of the schools, scouts, or recruiters that attend their camps...you need to be aware of this ... they are paid to go. That’s right, the showcase camps will pay coaches and recruiters to attend camps even if it’s just for a few minutes and then they can leave. All the showcase camp director wants is their signature to prove that they were “there”. So, when they put out next year’s brochure they can list all of the coaches who were “in attendance”

Do you know why they can get away with this?

They Get New players every year!

They rarely deal with the same player twice. Most players will come to their camp once and that’s it. They don’t have to worry about a long term relationship or building any kind of trust with their customers.

These businesses are very sly and they know the market very well. They also know your fears and worries about missing out on a possible chance to get noticed. So they prey on that.

Now, like we said they are not all bad. But, how do you know the good ones from the bad?

We will teach you.

Do you know why college coaches don’t go to more games?

Most college coaches that I know, coach for the love of the game. And, they are very good people. The college coaches that are making millions of dollars are few and far between. You’ll probably be surprised to know that most college coaches are not even full-time. Most have to do some other job within their school in addition to their coaching duties. A typical college coach works a regular 9-5 job in the school during the off season. They probably have very little help in running their programs. Maybe a part time assistant if that. They basically spend most of their free time running the program and recruiting. This makes it very difficult for them to do the job right.

It gets even worse

Most of them have a very small budget to do any real recruiting. They have to rely on you to come to them....but, most of those shady services will tell you otherwise.

It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way

The sad truth is that most people become frustrated with the process and basically take whatever college comes their way. Or worse, they end up at a school that isn’t right for them or just quit sports altogether.

That’s where we come in...

For years we have watched many athletes get attention from coaches, scouts, and recruiters without using any of the methods listed above.

In fact, Jeff Fallon started working with student-athletes in 1996 to give honest advice to students and their families and to be a resource in the community for high school coaches to use to help get their athletes in the right college program.

We have put together an easy program that takes you step by step through the college recruiting and admissions process and cuts through all the non-sense. You will be able to eliminate the fear of not knowing how to go about recruiting and start to gain control over the whole process.

If you are just starting...this will help you get into the school of your dreams

If you are already in the recruiting process...this will make it a lot easier and give you a little bit of an unfair advantage

After you breeze through the first few steps of this program, you’ll know exactly how to quickly and easily attract college coaches to you...instead of crossing your fingers and hoping that they come looking or wasting thousands of dollars on these so-called “services”.

How do you do it?  Easy. A simple, process that practically forces a college coach to pay attention to your skills.

Here are some of the secrets you’ll learn:

The one word you should put on the outside of every video you send to a coach...want to know what it is? UNEDITED...I’ll teach you why this is important

The best time of day (and of year) to call a coach…and why you should never call at any other time

Why coaches don’t always call you back or respond to your letters...this can save you a lot of worry and wondering

How to make sure that every letter you send gets read by the coach before anyone else’s putting you ahead of the competition

Getting coaches to attend your games….this one is tricky. But, you can easily understand their thinking and adapt to it so they show up

Why it’s important to keep a running dialogue with coaches...even if it’s just a one line email. This is how you keep their attention

A letter sequence that puts you at the top of every recruiting list...I did all of the work for you on this one...just fill in your name

Why a parent calling a coach is a huge mistake (and a few other parent mistakes that can cost your child)

What to do when a college coach approaches you…this could make or break your chances of being recruited by that coach

Avoid mistakes every parent makes that kills their kid's chances of getting recruited

The factors that must be right for you to attend a college…this will ensure you have a great college experience both on and off the field

How to get more coaches to notice you at showcases and tournaments...and it’s something no one else does.

Why recruiting services are a big waste of time and money...and how to do what they do for less

The 1 thing you should never do to a video you send to coaches…this will keep it out of the trash

The 3 things you should do immediately after meeting a coach that nobody else does...this will make you stand out

What you must do before you even think of contacting a coach…how to prepare the right way

The one book that you must have before looking at schools and programs...a must

How to quickly find out if you are a good fit for the program or not…this will save tons of time

Why getting a scholarship is easier than you think …you just have to ask the right question and know the right times to ask

How you can easily find out the style of each coach and how he recruits his players to see if you match

and much, much more !

The best part is that you don’t have to wait for the prograWith the Complete College Planning program, you'll receive:

·         A College Plan that is actually tailored to you- Many students just start to contact colleges blindly, with no focus.  Others wait to be discovered.  Without a proper roadmap, we never actually get to where we really want to go.  We develop a specific college plan just for you and provide you with the colleges, the contact information and the plan to get their attention.

·         A Video That Actually Gets Watched- This is one of the biggest mistakes I see. Most videos are awful and are shot wrong. We make a video that will have the college coaches paying attention.

·         How To Handle Letters From Coaches – Guidance, Guidance, Guidance … When you get a letter from a college coach what are you supposed to do? Is it a real letter, a form letter, or just something to try and rope you into going to their camp? You will know how to tell the difference right away and how to act on it.  Also, I am right on your computer.

·         Create Your Own Online Profile and Get It To Every Coach In The Country - This maybe the one piece I will give you that can save you tons of money. You don’t need some fancy, high priced service. You just need exposure and you can do it for yourself in less than an hour it’s very simple.

·         Someone to turn to when you get bombarded by solicitations- Once you get your name out there, you open yourself up to solicitations from all of the showcase camps, clinics and everything under the sun dealing with baseball and recruiting.  Having been involved in this process since 1989 as a coach and 1984 as a two sport college athlete, you have an experienced voice to turn to in helping make the best decision for you.

·         Reality Check- This is, without question, the biggest mistake I see.  Students either over shooting or under shooting what is realistic.  Also, if your goal is to “get better”, we can help to get you better.  Our mission is assist ance in providing options for you.  It does us no good to provide 10 Division I options, when you can’t play at that level. However, if that’s your goal and there is time, we can help to tailor a plan that will get you closer to that goal.

·          Much, much more
